Housing, Environment and Transport

Caia Park has some significant strengths in terms of environment. The are some substantial areas of public open space, playing fields and links into the open countryside. However, there is always scope to improving the quality of the environment in order to gain greater benefit from this asset to the benefit of local people.
Within this theme, Communities First are always keen to tackle existing problems with the environment along with making the most of the opportunities that the environment presents.
We want residents to remain within this community and feel it is a place they can be proud to call their home and raise their families rather than moving out of the area. We also wish to encourage people who live outside of Caia Park to choose this location as their community.
We hope that ongoing environmental improvements will seek to achieve this for residents of Caia Park.
Housing
Since the Communities First programme commenced some seven years ago, it has become increasingly apparent that a great deal of issues that residents approach us for assistance in addressing are linked with housing.
These have included anything from lack of suitable parking near their homes, issues with the maintenance and repairs of council housing to anti-social behaviour and the general need for housing improvements to reach the Welsh Housing Quality Standard.
We have come a long way in addressing these issues and raising awareness of housing issues but there is still much work to be done. Caia Park benefits from many tenants and residents associations who play an active, vital part in taking forward housing issues and undertaking schemes to make improvements.
Trees for Children
Caia Park could soon benefit from a new Welsh Assembly Government initiative: 'Plant - A tree for every child in Wales'.
Areas of green land have been identified in Caia for the tree planting and consultation is taking place at present.
