Caia Park Carnival & Car Boot Sale
The first of what is hoped to become an annual event is being held from 1pm until 4pm on Saturday 17th July at Queensway Sports Stadium. There will be stalls and exhibitions, mini sports, 5-a-side football, donkey rides, musical entertainment from local bands and singers, a Bouncy Castle, Toddler play area, face painting and vehicles from the Fire & Rescue Service and North Wales Police. It promises to be a great afternoon out for all the family! Make a date to be there and join in the fun. A car boot sale is also being arranged for the same time as the Carnival - it will be held on the small car park outside Queensway Sports Centre from 1.00pm until 4pm and pitches will cost £5 each. To book your pitch, please telephone 01978 364920 - pitches are strictly limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis so book your place now!
Caia’s Got Talent 2010
After last year’s fantastic event, Caia’s Got Talent is back searching for more talent! This year’s final will be held on Friday 15th October 2010 at the RAFA Club on Ruthin Road – a bigger venue as we had to disappoint some people last year as the show was a sell out before the evening started. If you are interested in taking part, all you need is a talent – singing, dancing, telling jokes, juggling, playing a musical instrument or anything else people would want to watch (we’ve all seen Britain’s got Talent so you know the kind of thing that we mean!). For an application form, please contact Caia Park Communities First on 01978 314094 or call in our office at 17/18 Gwenfro, Caia Park.
Caia Park Annual Residents Awards
This years presentation evening takes place at the RAFA Club on Friday 19th November 2010. Nomination packs will be distributed to all homes with the Newsletter in July or August but you will be able to get additional copies from Caia Park Communities First offices at 17/18 Gwenfro very soon. Each year many of our residents are recognized for their kindness and commitment to the community of Caia Park – there are always people out there, helping others, getting involved and making their community a better place and this is a great way to show them that they are appreciated. This year the categories have changed a bit so now is a good time to make your first nomination (or carry on nominating if you’ve taken part before). For more information or a nomination pack please telephone us on 01978 314094
Environmental Awareness Day
A final reminder that Caia Park Environmental Group is holding its annual Environmental Awareness Day at Hafod y Wern Community Primary School, Deva Way, Wrexham on Saturday 26th June starting at 11am. Bring your pets for the Dog and Pet show and enter the craft and other competitions on the day. It will be fun for all the family with stalls, competitions and exhibitions. For further information, please contact Dorothy Mitchell on 07773 963595.
Free Trip to Southport!
A free trip to Southport on Monday 12th July has been organized for older residents of Caia Park. Tickets are limited to 49 and are available on a first come, first served basis. Pick up points will be as follows:
Pentre Gwyn Community Centre 9.30am
Post Office (Bryn Hafod) 9.40am
Prince Charles Road 9.5am
The coach will leave Southport at approximately 5pm for the journey home. To reserve a ticket please contact Les Stamp on 01978 357809
Strawberry Tea
Just a quick reminder that St Mark’s Church will be holding a “Strawberry Tea” from 2pm on Saturday 26th June at 9 Arenig Road, Caia Park. Attractions include a Grand Draw, Tombola and a variety of stalls including a cake stall and a White Elephant stall – not to mention strawberries and cream! Everyone is warmly invited to attend – entrance costs just £3 and all proceeds will go to Church funds.
News from Gwenfro School
On Saturday we had a very successful Car boot sale - thank you to all those who attended.
On Thursday year 5 were very lucky to be invited to go to Ysgol Clywedog to work with an Environmental Artist, Tim Pugh. They had a fantastic morning creating their own art work, which will be displayed at an Environmental Day.
Last week Gwenfro C.P took place in the District Sports event. A boy and a girl from year 6 were given 4th and 3rd position in the sprint championship. We were all very proud when we came 3rd in our group of schools. Well done athletes!
We have also been lucky enough to be invited to Hafod Y Wern School to join in with Reads United. The children are going to listen to author’s experiences and learn about books they have written. The aim of the day is to get more children involved in reading.
